Curtis Lillie - Deuteronomy 6:10-7:26. God is fulfilling His promises! He is bringing us into the full and abundant life that He has promised and made available. However, this New Creation, Kingdom of God way-of-life is only available by way of Holiness Ave. Through Jesus, we’ve been declared “Holy” and are able to walk the road. Praise God that through Jesus, the Holy Spirit is also affecting in us what John Wesley calls the “real change” of holiness. We’ve been declared holy. But God is also making us holy. By His holy love, He is fulfilling His holy purpose, by inviting us into His holy story, making us holy separated from what is common, and assigning us as his partners by giving us a holy task. Holy, Holy, Holy, is the Lord God Almighty.

Curtis Lillie - Deut: 6:4-9. Our culture often talks about creeds (statements of belief) as dead and ritualistic. The SHEMA has never been without life in the faithful community of God's people. Rather, just the opposite. These words: simple, succinct, deep, and powerful, have shaped faith communities in the Way of Jesus throughout history. Will we give The Living Creed solid footing in our lives, to take grip and lead us into the Kingdom?

Curtis Lillie - Deuteronomy 5:22-6:3. Neil Postman has called the high tech generation "Information Gluts." We are addicted to information and we have more than ever. The problem is, we are largely incapable of acting on most of the information we receive. Therefore, we are insufficiently equipped to appropriately listen to God's words and then put them into action. We're like kids with guns...all the power in the world in our hands, but no fear for the power nor any understanding of how to appropriately wield it in our lives.

Curtis Lillie - What a perfect bookend to the 10 Commandments. God's strong desire is that we would desire Him with all of our desire. This final Word names some of those desires that creep into our hearts and minds, begging for us to pursue them. These misplaced desires separate us from God and they separate us from our neighbor. Before we know it we have everything our heart desires, but we've lost our soul.

Curtis Lillie - The Jesus Way is the way of truth-telling. We have been invited into a new way of getting on in the world. The truthfulness of God refuses to allow us to continue living in self-deceit and unconfessed sin, or with dehumanizing and dishonest speech toward our neighbors. God created us to Live the Truth. The Truth needs a Truth-Telling Covenant Community in which find its home.
